Grimsby Grove Founding
Grimsby Grove started at the beginning of the Great Collapse, an event during which one of the largest Colonies - Aurora Forest - was destroyed. Many Folk who were old enough to be children when Frisbee Grimsby (Lune of Lyric Grimsby), eggbound with their deceased partner's last living child, made the journey with two-thousand Folk to Grimsby Grove.
Fables of Aurora Forest's decline and destruction were passed down from generation to generation from the last of the living Elders. All of these fables had three things in common: the Papou fruit started to become smaller, making it harder to reproduce. The animals of the land started to leave or die. Then, moon turned red and the earth shook to the point that the Elder Tree split open, exposing them all to predators who had been waiting for an easy meal.
Aurora Forest was home to an array of different kinds of Folk, but because of the Great Collapse, these Folk were lost, and grew and changed into something different. The culture of these Folk is lost to time.
The Folk of Grimsby Grove are an evolved version of the Folk which originally lived in Aurora Forest and left with Ms. Frisbee. Their bodies grow and change rapidly with each generation to live in the area they found themselves in.
Grimsby Grove as a colony has lived for 500 years as of Year 1.

General Area
Grimsby Grove is located in a large and expansive forest, filled with tall mushrooms which help the soil, and the trees grow tall enough to kiss the skies and block off sunlight to the ground. These mushrooms are sometimes bio-luminescent, bringing light to the usually darkened ground.
Grimsby Grove is located at the edge of this forest, with an abandoned lake pier and amusement park located on the top left side of the large Elder Tree. Just little bit ways from the Colony itself lays a destroyed ship which has long since been pillaged for its resources. Grimsby Grove is a temperate zone colony, experiencing seasonal changes such as Spring, Summer, Autumn and Winter in 3 month intervals. They celebrate the new year every Fall and tend to experience a baby-boom during the beginning of each season as Papou fruit becomes harvested. |
Technology
Grimsby Grove's technology level is sporadic. Most of the Colony's technology falls within the early 1950s era, with radios and radio shows being the most popular forms of entertainment. However, there are also hints of technology from the Old World that pull some aspects of Grimsby Grove society into the modern era, such as Ether-powered Automatons (what Grimsby Grove calls Robots).
However, the use of Automatons is extremely limited, with only companion types of Automatons being widely available. Other types of Automatons are studied by both the Preservation Society and the Promethean Society. There's still a great deal of technology left behind from the Old World, much of it decayed or damaged. Some of it is salvageable, and often leads to more information about the Old World - Kits seem to enjoy finding this tech especially. |
Guilds
Guilds are private companies which have been formed for the betterment of Grimsby Grove. Each guild has a different role to play in Grimsby Grove society which assists in the everyday lives of Folk. Folk are usually recommended, upon growing up, to join a Guild due to the fact that they have no work qualifications and offer free classes or training for magic or other skills to better themselves for the type of jobs which they wish to pursue. Learning trades from Guilds is essential for becoming a productive member of Grimsby Grove and gain enough acorns and pinecones to become truly independent. Many view Guilds as a stepping stone to better futures.

There are 4 guilds in Grimsby Grove:
Promethean Society A guild committed to furthering science and breaking limitations both natural and ethical. The Promethean Society is known for its breakthroughs in medicine and technology. Folk who join the Promethean Society are naturally curious and analytical with genuine passion to help others. Those who wish to become a scientist, an inventor, or a doctor usually join the Promethean Society. Be warned - their experiments are not always viewed favorably by the public. |
Adventurer's Guild The most common guild to join. The Adventurer's Guild, as it's also affectionately called, is a mishmash of Folk who want to venture out of Grimsby Grove proper in search of Elder Trees, Old World artifacts, new creatures, and more. The Adventurer's Guild is often glamorized by the media of Grimsby Grove; stories often are told of brave Folk going into the wide world and returning rich, but it's only because it's the most dangerous guild to join. Folk who enter this guild explore the unknown, and sometimes the unknown bites back. |
Preservation Society The Preservation Society is dedicated to the culture of Grimsby Grove, preserving literature, artwork, radio shows, teaching magic, and filling government positions. Many Folk also join this guild in order to help keep records of Grimsby Grove events. This is the guild where you would go to if you ever want to find records of your family's bloodline. The Preservation Society, along with the other guilds, also helps assist in running the democracy of Grimsby Grove, often being a neutral party in elections. They also host magic classes for all adult Folk. |
Circle of the Moon
The creatures of Grimsby Grove need a voice too. The Circle of Moon handles the animals and plants of Grimsby Grove, and helps ensure that the creatures which inhabit the Elder Tree are cared for. Circle of Moon is filled with beast masters, veterinarians, gardeners, and farmers. They all often come together in order to ensure the health of the environment around them, as without the Elder Tree, Grimsby Grove as we know it would be gone. They are often the most underestimated guild, but their work is just as important and it's heavily respected. |
